English Pale Ales originating from the Yorkshire area tend to exhibit strong bitter qualities. This one has a dark amber color with a cream colored head giving way to a woody nose that is also earthy and nutty, leaving a hint of dark fruit behind. The taste is subtle, fruity, malt up front followed by nice vanilla tones that leaves an oaky finish. Traditional brewery methods included boiling down part of the wort to make a `liquor` that was reintroduced to the boil. The `Yorkshire Square System` was also incorporated whereby the foam head produced during boiling is removed from the wort to "impart a cleaner flavor".
