Campden Tablets are easy-to-use capsules of potassium metabisulfite and are used to prevent oxidation and growth of wild yeast and bacteria in wine must. Crush into a powder before using.
USE: Add 1 crushed tablet to 5 gallon of wine must 24 hours before adding the yeast to inhibit any wild yeast. Add 1 crushed tablet to 5 gallons of wine prior to bottling to help preserve the wine.
1 tablet yields 50 parts per million of sulfite per five gallons of wine.
For our brewers, campden tablets remove chlorine from water. Add one tablet per 20 gallons.
